By the time I completed this article in 2023, the Mediterranean region remains to be the most in demand in yacht charter services. In the past, clear water bodies have delivered an exciting experience for different travellers. The sea has gone absolutely gaga over yachting, and the Mediterranean is no exception, least of all this year.
1. Turkey: The Mediterranean’s Jewel
The region’s coast is spectacular and diverse, and it’s no surprise that Turkey sets yachting standards. In the crowded yachting harbours between Bodrum and Göcek, Marmaris and Fethiye are the gems of Turkey’s hard and soft coasts that deliver stunning spectacles of nature and the best of luxury. Nevertheless, the improvement of new marinas and the increase in infrastructural investments have made sailing along the Turkish Riviera easier than ever.
2. Extended Yachting Season
This year’s Mediterranean yachting season will last late into autumn and spring because of favourable weather conditions. The reasons to travel, particularly in the shoulder season, are quieter seas, cooler temperatures, and fewer crowds—all good reasons to explore hidden coves and picturesque islands.
3. Focus on Experiential Travel
This year, the clients don’t approach yachting just because of the luxury; it has to make a difference. But guests are choosing itineraries that can combine with cultural excursions, diving adventures, and even wellness retreats on board. There are destinations like Greece or southern Turkey where you can do everything, from a historical to an underwater tour.
4. Much emphasis must be laid on the fact that more quantities of small luxury yachts for charter are expected to be delivered in 2024 compared to other years.
These vessels are more personable than large yachts and are usually equipped and supplied at a different level. Being meant for two and four persons at most, they are appropriate for moving over the stoke and shallow waters characteristic of the Mediterranean Sea areas.
5. Early Bookings Are Key
More people are renting yachts in the Mediterranean, so it’s advisable to make a booking in advance. Early summer and early-season weddings are nearly over, and many preferred destinations, such as Antalya, Bodrum, and Santorini, are nearly booked. Expecting the vacation enables one to book the required yacht and/or the desired vacation station.
